Unity
in Diversity
"Behold,
how good and pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell together in unity,
It is like the precious oil upon the head...

The
evening of Saturday 11 May 2002 yet again saw another wonderful evening
for the diverse communities of the parishners of the Notting Hill and
Holland Park area who got together at St. Francis parish to enjoy this
special evening that celebrates their diversity.
What
a joy it was to see people of such divers cultures and backgrounds coming
together united in their faith. From Eritrea to Azerbaijan, from Poland
to Brazil, from Jamaica to Scotland, from the Phillipiness to Portugal,
from Nigeria to Spain, to name just a few. Such diversity of cultures
celebrating Mass together and later on enjoying the evening sampling each
others' traditional dishes, complimenting and admiring traditional costumes
and to clinch it all, dancing together. With the Eritrean mums in their
beautiful dresses adorning and opening the dance floor joined by other
groups who dance the Eritrean dance in sheer goodwill. And then followed
Carribean songs and dance, and then Latino music. Such a beutiful feeling
of togetherness of these diversity living in harmony in this community.
Welldone
St. Francis Parish which has historically celebrated diversity and has
accomodated these different ethnic groups in its parish for all these
years and will undoubtdley continue to do so.
Hail
diversity that so enriching and Hail Unity that so binding.
