Being Abnormal to be Normal
Dear brother/sister, I want to start my talk with a question. "What is a normal Christian life?" or "What does a normal Christian life encompass?" I am sure all of us have our own versions of answers for the question posed. Luckily or unluckily, we are living in an age of communication. We are living in the age of information revolution. Luckily or unluckily, we are entitled to access a vast range of information just sitting within our homes without any hassles. The information we are getting from the mass media is influencing our attitudes of life in general and our Christian lives in particular. In the condition where we are, where do we go to get the true meaning of "a normal Christian life"? I hope you will agree with me to say that Jesus is the only one who can give us today, the true meaning of a normal Christian life. After all, a normal Christian life means to be able to live as Christ has lived, to be a true follower of Christ in thought, word and deed, to love as Christ has loved us, to live for God. “…They said, ‘Rabbi’ (which means Teacher), ‘where are you staying?’ ‘Come,’ he replied, ‘and you will see.’ ” (John 1:38-39) Hence, the clear cut answer for our question above is just to accept the invitation of Jesus and see for ourselves what a normal Christian life means. Let us meet Jesus in the Bible, in the teachings of the Holy Church (the Living Body of Christ) and in the Holy Sacraments. But please allow me to share with you some words with regard to the above question.
