When things seem to go wrong

Peace!

Last week, I had a very challenging week. The reason being, I missed a long time awaited opportunity (in my eyes). I prayed about it, though, the way I wanted it to be. My prayer was like “God you know I am going to do this, I need your help, so be with me.” I did not even ask Him to speak to me about the situation. Who knows, what if He does not affirm my plan. I just was not ready to hear His advice incase it is not as what I wanted it to be. So I went, and the result was opposite to what I expected. Who am I going to blame for the case? God? Myself? If you say it is me who has to be blamed, you are right; because I am not immune from being blamed. I guess most of us have similar experiences in our daily lives.

Most of the times, it is above our imagination to understand why God acts the way He acts. Well, the Word of God says,

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
(Isaiah 55: 8-9)

But why does God, some times, seem as if he is not listening to our prayers or as if He does not care. I remember someone telling me about the wife of the American preacher Billy Graham. She said, “If God had answered all my prayers, I would have married to three other wrong men” It is very striking. And I remember some one saying, “God does not always answer by giving, He answers by refusing as well”

Let me tell you a story about a young lady and her father. The mother of the lady died early when the girl was very young. The burden of taking care of this young lady had fallen totally on her father. Her father was a very nice man. He was a very loving, caring, understanding and can be summed up as being a “perfect” father. This young lady was also very intelligent. She graduated from a University when she was 21 years of age. She was lucky enough to get a good job and started earning good salary.

One day, after having a hectic working day, she told to herself, “let me go to this recreation center and relax myself before I go back home.” And she went. Luckily, she came to know a very nice man who was very caring and understandable. Soon they become intimate friends, and she decided to marry him in less than a month time. She went to her father and shared her plans with him thinking he would be very happy. To her dismay, her father refused her decision.
